Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I find out about the status of my application over the phone or via email? We can verify receipt of your application but not the status. We have an anonymous selection process which means that once it goes into selection, it cannot be retrieved. 2. Can I find out about my scholar or sponsor once I sign up? We will give you general information and an email address but we do not give personal contact information out for security reasons. You may choose to exchange information via email. 3. Do I have to be a 501(c)(3) organization to get project funding? No. As a charitable organization, we may make grants to individuals for purposes within the scope of the Foundation's mission. 4. Do I have to be a member of the religion which I am proposing to publish about? No. Scholarships are open to all scholars of religion regardless of their personal faith. However, the publication must meet the requirement of being for public consumption and espousing progressive values. As such, the Foundation would not ordinarily fund critiques that aim to devalue a religion.
